Easy Blueberry Sauce

Easy Blueberry Sauce



  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • ½ – 1 Cup sugar (depending on desired sweetness)
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ tsp grated lemon zest
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice



Place all ingredients in saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Blueberries will start to “pop” as mixture heats up. This releases their natural pectins which help to naturally thicken the sauce. Bring just to a boil, then lower temperature. Continue simmering until it appears that all of the berries have popped and the sauce has a uniform color. Allow to cool. Serve over ice cream, pound cake, etc. Can also be frozen for later use.
